Alejandro Kirk is now standing alone.

After co-starring alongside Danny Jansen for the past few seasons, Kirk is taking centre stage for the Blue Jays.
With no platoon partner, this is now Kirk's show.
After arriving early at camp, Kirk is in the best shape of his life. He attributes this to training in Florida rather than at his home in Mexico.
Also, arriving ahead of time allowed Kirk to focus on his offence along with his catching duties.
Although he won a silver slugger in 2022, a season in which he hit .285 with 14 home runs, 63 RBIs, and was elected to his first All-Star game, Kirk has had some inconsistencies with the bat over the last couple of years.
He hit a combined 13 home runs in 2023 and 2024, but came on strong after Jansen was traded away in July.
Additionally, Kirk has solidified his reputation as one of the best pitch framers working in the game today, and is in Top percentile in many defensive categories.
«That's one of the main reasons I got here early in November, I wanted to be ready, to spend time with some of the guys who were here from the rotation and work more on our communication, work on my defence. Hopefully, that carries over to my offence.»

Not known for his athleticism, Kirk instead has relied on his subtle skillset.
If he can back to his 2022 form, when he had more walks than strikeouts, his rank among catchers will only improve.
So far, he has looked really good in the first few days of Spring Training.
