Blue Jays insider Keegan Matheson wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that he ran into Tiedemann this morning in Dunedin and the former top prospect is encouraged with his rehab.
Tiedemann underwent Tommy John surgery on July 27th of last year. Recovery times are anywhere from 10-14 months, usually averaging out at about 12.
While it's unlikely Tiedemann appears in a major league contest this season, he is targeting the end of 2025 for when he gets back into games.
Although he has had trouble remaining healthy over the last couple of seasons, the Blue Jays organization is still high on the big righty. He is still on the list of Top 30 prospects.
Tiedemann is one of eight pitchers currently in recovery from Tommy John. Others include former Alek Manoah, first round pick Brandon Barriera, as well as TJ Brock and Chad Dallas.
While the Blue Jays have a superior pitching department at the major league, their health and development of the farm system has always been a cause for concern and something to be improved upon.
If Tiedemann can meet his target date, there is a chance he could be a September call-up for the Blue Jays. It will depend where they are competitively.
At any rate, the fact that Tiedemann's recovery is so far going smoothly has to be a positive sign for the Blue Jays.
