The roommates are back for 2025! In spite of Spencer Horwitz' trade to the Guardians, Ernie Clement and Davis Schneider are still together and will be getting a new housemate for the upcoming season.
The close bond between Clement Horwitz, and Schneider was the stuff dreams are made of and was one of the feel-good stories in an otherwise disappointing season for the Blue Jays in 2024.
When Horwitz was dealt to Cleveland in December, many thought that would be the end of the roommate era.
The Blue Jays seemingly announced the new housing arrangement via a Valentine's Day post on social media titled New Roommates Edition.
While Clement is certain to make the opening day roster, the road is less for both the Babe and Loperfido.
Schneider struggled mightily last year but has positional flexibility and could still be a valuable right-handed bat off the bench.
Loperfido has a chance to crack the roster as a fourth outfielder, especially with Varsho scheduled to start the season on the IL, but will have competition for Nathan Lukes and Jonathan Clase. All three are capable of playing centre field.
As position players don't officially report to Spring Training until Tuesday, we have yet to see how included Loperfido will be. Both Clement and Schneider are nice guys and should have no problem welcoming Joey into the fold.
Hopefully none of the three get traded any time soon.
