The Toronto Blue Jays continue their Grapefruit League slate with an evening game against New York Yankees tonight. First pitch is at 6:35PM ET.
It is already the third matchup between the two teams. They split the previous two games, with the Blue Jays winning 6-4 on February 22nd, while New York took the second matchup 6-3.
Yariel Rodriguez will make his third Spring Training appearance and second start for the Blue Jays, while former Toronto ace Marcus Stroman will lead the charge for the Yankees.
Rodriguez has struggled so far this spring as the Blue Jays look to define his role heading into 2025.
Through his first two games, has an ERA of 18.00 and a WHIP of 3.00. Although he entered camp as in competition for the 5th spot in the rotation, he is most likely going to the year in the bullpen.
Stroman, on the other hand, has had an eventful spring.
The sixth man in the Yankees rotation, he initially refused to report to camp after declaring he wasn't going to pitch out of the bullpen. He eventually reported and with Luis Gil hurt, he could wind up with the 5th spot.
Stroman's numbers haven't been there though. He has a 9.82 ERA through two starts and just two strikeouts in three innings pitched.
Given the struggles of each pitcher, they are unlikely to go more than two innings apiece today. Both pitchers also have high ERAs so it could be high-scoring affair.
The game will be available on SportsNet so fans can watch what is sure to be must-see baseball.
