Berrios has one start so far this spring logging 2.1 innings while allowing one run and striking out two - a stellar Grapefruit League debut for a pitcher who posted a 3.60 ERA over the course of 192.1 innings last year.
Now, as a new season begins, the 30-year-old's combination of consistency and upside makes him truly indispensable to the Blue Jays ahead of a pivotal 2025 season.
«I don't want to change anything,» he said. «Just add good things.

«Knowing more of my strengths and my weaknesses,» Berrios continued. «That way, you can be a better athlete, a better competitor and a better pitcher.»

Better would be nice, but the Blue Jays would surely welcome more of the same for Jose Berrios, who has started exactly 32 games in each of the last six full seasons - a remarkable display of durability from the pitched nicknamed La Makina.
According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet, the Toronto Blue Jays haven't decided on an Opening Day starter yet, but Jose Berrios is in the mix for the job.
It's an interesting decision for the Jays, who are littered with veteran starters, including Berrios, Max Scherzer, Chris Bassitt and Kevin Gausman.
Berrios is a nine-year veteran of the Twins and Blue Jays who is a two-time All-Star. Having gone 99-77 for his career, Berrios has seven different seasons of double-digit victories.
He is coming off a year in which he went 16-11 with a 3.60 ERA. He struck out 153 batters in 192.1 innings.
Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerroro Jr, Anthony Santander, Andres Gimenez, Alejandro Kirk, Ernie Clement and Joey Loperfido all get the day of today and will be presumably be in tomorrow's lineup versus the Houston Astros.
