Blue Jays add three more homers in nail-biter with Phillies

Bowden Francis got the nod the Blue Jays and dug himself into an early hole. After a 1-2-3 first inning, Francis opened the second by giving up a double and four singles to give the Phillies a 3-0 lead. Paxton Schultz came in to get the final out of the inning.

Francis re-entered the game in the third - re-entry is allowed during Spring Training - and gave up a solo home run to Alec Bohm before two walks and a single lead to Philadelphia's fifth run.

The Blue Jays bullpen kept further damage from being done with Jacob Barnes, Andrew Bash, Yimi Garcia, and Jimmy Burnette all contributing scoreless appearances.

Even though they were down 5-0 early, the Blue Jays slowly chipped away at the lead. Addison Barger hit a solo home run in the fourth, while Alan Rodencontinued his hot spring with a home of his own in the 6th.

Like they always seem to do, the Blue Jays made things interesting in the ninth. With Ali Sanchez on first following a one-out walk, second baseman Eddinson Paulino took NNabil Crimsatt deep for a two-run shot to put the Blue Jays to within one.

Crimsatt then struck out Rainier Nunez before giving up a double to Alex De Jesus to put the tying run at second base. Dasan Brown then grounded out to end the game.

The Blue Jays continue their Spring Training with a game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. First pitch is at 1:05pm ET.
