The Toronto Blue Jays have another pitcher dealing with a minor injury. Reliever Ryan Burrhas been battling shoulder fatigue and has yet to get into a Spring Training game.
While the Blue Jays have been luckier than some other teams this spring, their depth has clearly taken a hit.
According to Blue Jays insider Arden Zwelling, Burr has been battling shoulder fatigue for quite a while and won't be in a game anytime soon. He will be limited to light throwing for now.
The Blue Jays should have a clearer picture within a couple of days.
Burr was among a handful pitchers in competition for the final spot in the Blue Jays' bullpen alongside Braydon Fisher, Mason Fluharty, Kevin Gowdy, Richard Lovelady, Tommy Nance, Zach Pop, and Josh Walker.
It is unknown whether or not Burr will be able to get into a Grapefruit League game before the regular season begins in just under three weeks, but it would appear that he is now out of the running for an opening day roster spot.
Adam Kloffenstein and Adam Macko were other pitchers who dealt with Spring Training injuries.
Burr performed admirably for the Blue Jays last season, going 0-2 with a 4.13 in 34 games. He also acted as the opener four times.
More should be known about the extent of Burr's injury within the coming days. For now, he will rest up and continue light tossing as to not aggravate his shoulder.
