Every year there are number of notable veterans who sign minor league deals, hoping to make an impact as a non-roster invitee. 2025 is no exception.

In a recent MLB list of 20 veterans who could make an impact as NRIs, two former Blue Jays found themselves among the names.
Cavan Biggio was part of the next generation of Blue Jays as one of a trio of legacy players alongside Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
A fan favourite, he quickly endeared himself to Canadians and was beloved and respected in the clubhouse for both his leadership and willingness to play anywhere.
While he had a great first two seasons, hitting a combined 24 home runs in 159 games, he struggled to maintain his success, ultimately resulting in him getting DFA'd by the Blue Jays in mid 2024.
After short stints with the Dodgers and Braves, Biggio finds himself in camp with the Royals, where he has a decent shot at winning a bench role.
Jesse Chavez had two separate stints with the Blue Jays, in 2012 and in 2016. He appeared mainly as a long reliever and spot starter, throwing 62.2 innings in 48 games across his two stints.
Now 41, Chavez is entering his 18th big league season and finds himself back with the Texas Rangers, his fourth stint with the organization.
Whatever happens, Chavez has already indicated that 2025 will be his final year.
He posted a 3.13 ERA over 46 appearances out of the Braves' bullpen last season. Chavez was a member of Atlanta's World Series championship club in 2021.
