The Toronto Blue Jays have formalized Gosuke Katoh's new role for 2025. The former infielder will be "Assistant, Major League Operations".

Katoh had previously been announced as joining the Blue Jays front office back in November, though his role at the time was unknown.
As Assistant, Major League Operations, Katoh will be with the big league staff and could be in uniform and in the dugout during games.
While the role is vaguely worded, Katohs role could be similar to that of field coordinator or general assistant such as Major League Coach. Both of these roles had previously been filled by Gil Kim, who will now manage Single-A Dunedin.
He could also help with things like advanced scouting, whether that's for players they are facing, or former big leaguers that they are interested in signing.
It's a role that gives Katoh quite a wide berth, and one that he should settle into nicely.
Although Katoh's entire Major League career consists of the eight games he played with the Blue Jays back in 2022, he was a clubhouse favourite and quickly endeared himself to fans throughout his short stint with the club.
After being cut by the Blue Jays, he was claimed by the Mets but never played a game for them. He spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons playing in Japan before retiring and beginning the next chapter of his career with the Blue Jays.
Katoh, who was originally drafted by the Yankees, also spent in the Marlins and Padres organizations.
For his career Katoh had one hit in seven at-bats, with two runs scored.
Welcome aboard Gosuke!
