Toronto Blue Jays General Manager Ross Atkins keeps hinting that a trade is on the way.

With pitchers and catchers reporting to the Toronto Blue Jays facility today in Dunedin, Florida, the team's 2024-2025 offseason came to an official end.
But unofficially, there's still plenty more work to do before the team's season gets going on March 28.
For the Blue Jays front office, it's been a busy few months, adding talent such as Andres Gimenez, Anthony Santander,Yimi Garcia, Jeff Hoffman and Max Scherzer via trade free agency, respectively, while having infamously failed negotiations with several top talents like Juan Soto and Roki Sasaki.
«We have some exceptional talent on the roster already,» general manager Ross Atkins told reporters today, as per Sportsnet. «I feel like we're in a really strong position.»

Though Toronto was linked to free agent third baseman Alex Bregman, he wound up signing Wednesday with a divisional rival in the Boston Red Sox.
And according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson, the Blue Jays making any more additions ahead of the season at this point would likely be via the trade market.
The move echoes comments Atkins made last week, as per Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling, though he focused more on the bullpen and lineup rather than the starting pitching staff.
«We'll never stop on [the trade] front if there's a way to do it. If there's a way to upgrade any aspect [of our roster,] whether it's run prevention, run scoring, to our bullpen.

It'd be hard to add to the rotation at this point unless it's just depth. On the position player group, if there's a way to increase our depth, we'll look to do that. I think at this point it would require a trade for us to add to the team.

It doesn't have to. But it most likely would be the case,» Atkins said.
While talk is cheap, we'll be keeping a close eye on any additions the Blue Jays may make over the next six weeks before the regular season begins.
