It's officially February, and that can only mean one thing: baseball season is upon us!

As the calendar flips to the second month of 2025, Spring Training is just around the corner, with pitchers and catchers reporting in just two weeks.
It's been an exciting-albeit sometimes infuriating-offseason. Juan Soto's free agency was the talk of the winter meetings, ultimately ending with the Mets paying a ridiculous sum to bring the slugger to Queens for the next 15 years.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who won the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes, seem to have signed every available player in both the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies, as their payroll appears limitless.
Corbin Burnes is now in Arizona, Max Fried is a Yankee, and Jurickson Profar signed with Atlanta. Yet, many veterans remain unsigned. Some will likely be forced to choose between a minor league deal, retirement, or sitting out the season. I suspect a few will make up their minds before that decision is made for them.
As for the Blue Jays? While their offseason has been slow but steady, the recent additions of Anthony Santander and Max Scherzer have provided some momentum. Still, Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins continue to face a barrage of criticism from a fanbase that won't accept anything less than a Vladimir Guerrero Jr.. contract extension.
A lot can happen in the next 10-12 days. Big transactions often go down last minute. Either way, baseball is back, and it's time to get excited!
