The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced the re-signing of outfielder Randal Grichuk to a one-year deal, which includes a club option for 2026.

The deal is valued at $5.5 million, with $2 million as a base salary, a $3 million buyout, and a $5 million option for 2026.
Grichuk spent 2024 with the Diamondbacks, having a solid season with a .291 batting average, 12 home runs, and 46 RBIs.
At one point, Grichuk was viewed as the centrepiece and future of the Blue Jays' franchise.
Acquired in 2018 from the St. Louis Cardinals in a trade for Dominic Leone and Conner Greene, Grichuk signed a five-year extension with Toronto in 2019 and led the team in home runs that year with 31.
However, after a couple of seasons of stagnant offensive numbers and the Blue Jays' signing of George Springer, Grichuk was traded to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Raimel Tapia.
After a year and a half in Colorado, Grichuk was traded again, this time to the Los Angeles Angels, where he finished out the 2023 season. Notably, the Angels had originally drafted Grichuk in the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft-one spot ahead of Mike Trout.
Grichuk began his career with the Cardinals, where he made his Major League debut and spent his first four seasons.
Now back with the Diamondbacks, Grichuk is expected to fill a part-time role similar to the one he had last year, though he did appear in 106 games. He can play both centre and right field, with occasional opportunities at DH.
