Spring Training is just two weeks away, and Alex Bregman remains a free agent.

The former Astros third baseman is reportedly seeking a six-year deal, which could be a hurdle for several teams.
The length of the contract is one concern, but the average annual value (AAV) might also be higher than what most teams are willing to pay.
A few factors are at play here:
Bregman will turn 31 on Opening Day, and while his numbers last season were solid-26 home runs and 75 RBIs-there's a consensus that he's a couple of years past his prime. Third base is also a physically demanding position, and many players at that spot tend to break down earlier than others.

Bregman and his agent, Scott Boras, might be pushing for a six-year deal in part because it would include a full no-trade clause, granted through Bregman's 10-and-5 rights (10 years in the league, five with the same team).
While the Blue Jays have shown interest in Bregman this offseason, teams like the Tigers, Red Sox, and Cubs seem to be more likely landing spots. The Blue Jays are also pursuing Pete Alonso, and if they sign one, it's unlikely they'll sign the other.
It is thought that the Blue Jays have a six-year offer on the table for Bregman.
If Bregman is open to a shorter-term deal, a team may be more willing to pull the trigger. But as of now, it seems he's not interested in that option-though, with Opening Day approaching, his stance could change.
