The Blue Jays shortstop is also entering his walk year and with all the focus on the extension talks with Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo has been seemingly left in the house.
It turns out, the Blue Jays have not engaged with him in the same way they have been dealing with Vlad.
Part of the reason there hasn't been as much noise around Bichette is partly due to his injury-riddled 2024 campaign. Bo was limited to just 81 games last year and his value isn't nearly as high.
That being said, Bo is as much a part of this team as Vladdy and there is hope that they will both be part of the Blue Jays long-term.
Vladdy is one of my best friends. We've had tons of conversations like that. We've talked about playing together forever since he was 18 and I was 19. That's still a goal of ours. - Bo Bichette on playing with Vladimir Guerrero Jr..
Bichette showed a willingness to work with the organization this offseason, too, flying to Toronto to help court Roki Sasaki after he was approached by the club. Bichette called it a «no-brainer.» Besides, Sasaki is a special young talent who Bichette thinks would have «helped us tremendously.»
There have been questions about Bo's long-term loyalty to the Blue Jays organization. His recent actions however, indicate that he still wants to remain in Toronto long term.
Bo doesn't have a deadline, at least not a public one like Vlad. So it is possible that Blue Jays fans could see a mid-season extension agreement.
Whatever happens, it's going to be a big year for Bo.
