Have the Blue Jays Suddenly Become an Offensive Powerhouse Again?

According to multiple statistical models, the answer is a resounding yes.
Throughout 2024, much has been made of the Blue Jays' offensive struggles. Bo Bichettedealt with injuries, George Springer showed signs of decline, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. didn't heat up until the second half of the season.
But now, with a resurgent Bichette, a full season of Guerrero being his usual self, and the addition of Anthony Santander, the Blue Jays are suddenly starting to look like their former offensive powerhouse.
FanGraphs' ZiPs projections have the Blue Jays posting a 105 wRC+, which ranks them 9th overall in MLB. Baseball Prospectus also projects the Jays to finish with the second-most runs in the American League, tied with Baltimore.
Interestingly, though, the Jays are only projected to hit 197 home runs-second lowest among the top ten teams, ahead of only Seattle.
Despite these promising offensive numbers, Baseball Prospectus has the Jays finishing with just 84.5 wins, placing them seventh in their projections. That puts Toronto one win behind the Mariners for the sixth and final playoff spot.
However, given the margin of error in these projections, it's still possible the Jays could jump to fifth or sixth place by season's end.
Even so, the fact that the Blue Jays are ranked among the top ten in any offensive category will come as a surprise to many fans, some of whom are still dissatisfied despite the team's busy offseason.
If Springer and Bichette can rebound, Guerrero stays locked in for a full season, and young players like Wagner, Barger, and Clement continue to develop, the Blue Jayscould very well exceed their projected win total.
