Outfielder Jonatan Clase will make his Spring Training debut today.
The team announced that Clase who has been dealing with a hamstring injury will be back today and Joey Loperfido will also be back in the lineup after playing last night proving that he is doing a lot better.
The switch-hitting Dominican outfielder was acquired in a trade from the Seattle Mariners in 2024 and hit a combined .246/.303/.328 with a homer, five RBI and three stolen bases in 26 total games (seven with Toronto) in his first MLB season.
Catcher Christian Bethancourt signed a minor league contract with the Blue Jays this winter with an invite to Spring Training.
Bethancourt, 33, split last season between the Miami Marlins and the Chicago Cubs, hitting .209 with five home runs and 22 RBI in 62 games.
In 428 career MLB games with the Marlins, Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Oakland Athletics, and Tampa Bay Rays, he has batted .229 with 60 doubles, 35 home runs, 135 RBI, and a total of 58 runners caught stealing.
