What the Jays would look like if today was Opening Day 2025
Your 2025 Toronto Blue Jays!
Here's a look at the team the Toronto Blue Jays could field as of right now on opening day.
In order for the Blue Jays to be legitimate contenders they need to fill a fair number of holes.
First off lets address the massive elephant in the room. EVERYTHING revolves around what happens with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
A possible Opening Day Roster and batting order based on what we have now.
1.LF Jonathan Clase Showed some really great progress and promise at the end of the season.
2. SS Bo Bichette After a tough 2024 and a contract year you can bet he's playing for a big payday
3. 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Hopefully he is extended and here for the long haul.
4. CF Dalton Varsho Still waiting to see a breakout offensive campaign but everything else is Elite level
5. 3B Orelvis Martinez Massive pop. Will be interesting to see what he looks like after missing much of last season do to PEDs.
6. 2B Will Wagner Highly touted prospect that has looked great at the plate at all levels.
7. C Alejandro Kirk Not much to say here. Former All-Star, pitchers and teammates love him. Great defensive Catcher. Solid bat.
8. RF George Springer Has been on a downward curve the last couple years but looking for a bounce back.
9. DH Take your pick. I will say the jays have a whole plethora of young versatile talent. We did have a lot of fun watching the kids come up at the end of the season but are they really ready to make the jump full time?
SP Jose Berrios, Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt, Bowden Francis, Ricky Tiedemann. I don't believe that we'll see Tiedemann on the opening day roster but he's arguably the best we currently have to fill that role. Yariel Rodriguez likely fills the 5th spot today.
CP Chad Greene
Not a bad nucleus but a lot of evident holes to fill. Check out my next article where I do Atkins job for him.
