It's been a rough season for Blue Jays fans.

Other than the Yimi Garcia signing and the acquisition of Andres Gimenez, Jays fans have been getting spicy while waiting for Ross Atkins to do something - anything.

Well fear not Blue Bird Nation. With a new year comes more hope. January has historically been a busy month, transaction-wise for this franchise.

Over the last few seasons, January acquisitions for the Blue Jays include Brandon Belt, Justin Turner, Chad Green, Marcus Semien, Steven Matz, Tyler Chatwood, Kirby Yates, and George Springer.

Considering the last name of the list was the biggest multiyear deal in franchise, that could bode well for an Anthony Santander signing.

And while fans are growing increasingly skeptical and losing faith that of Ross Atkins' capability of doing anything, there are still weeks left until Spring Training, which is still plenty of time to get something done.

While fans might not get their wish of a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. contract extension, it doesn't necessarily mean that the offseason was a total whiff, especially if the Blue Jays can lure Anthony Santander and/or Alex Bregman north of the border.

Now the holidays are over, expect the offseason to pick up for all teams and all players, not just the Blue Jays.

So whatever happens, know that something probably will. It's just a matter of whether Jays fans will like it.
