Depending on who you ask, the Toronto Blue Jays are a serious contender for Alex Bregman.

The All-Star third baseman is likely finished in Houston after the Astros signed Christian Walker to play first base, thereby moving Isaac Paredes to third.

While Bregman's market has been slow to develop, recent reports suggest that the Blue Jays are among the finalists for Bregman's services. The Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox are said to be the other teams.

Ari Alexander, who works for KPRC 2 out of Houston and is a baseball insider had said that all three are serious suitors and a very real possibility.

Bregman, who won his first Gold Glove award in 2024, a season in which he also hit 26 home runs, would provide an upgrade at third base and give the Blue Jays not only one of the best defensive infields in the league, but would also provide protection in the line-up for Vladimir Guerrero Jr., something the Blue Jays desperately need.

And while other fan sites seem to indicate that the Blue Jays are either out of the running or that Bregman wants no part of Ross Atkins and co, others think that the Blue Jays will land the the third baseman, and that he is one player that the Jays won't have to overpay.

Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press believes that the Tigers are Bregman's team of choice, while others seem to give to the Red Sox the edge. Bregman is very good friends with pitcher Walker Buehler, who recently signed with Boston..

If Atkins is able to lure Bregman north of the border, it could open the doors for Toronto. Only time will tell.
