Although with the way the media talks about it, you wouldn't think that to be the case.
With the Blue Jays seemingly linked to every available player from here to Gallifrey, the team comes up in virtually every big name discussion, sometimes to conflicting results.
Take for example Juan Soto. During the sweepstakes for the high-prized superstar, the Jays were reported to be one of the final teams in the running, it was even alleged that they made the highest offer.
Days after Soto signed his record-breaking contract with the New York Mets, it comes out that perhaps the Blue Jays didn't have the highest bid after all. It might have even been under $700 million, far less than what Soto signed for.
Clearly nobody knows anything about anything
Case two is Corbin Burnes.
Just a few days ago, the Blue Jays were reported as being the favourite to land the 2021 Cy Young, with reports again stating that the team had the highest offer to
Burns.
One MLB analyst even predicted that the Blue Jays would ultimately land the coveted righty. Flash forward 72 hours and the experts seem to say that the Jays will most likely not land the superstar.
Clearly nobody knows anything about anything
While conflicting information is bound to happen, especially when it comes to the more higher-priced players available, fast-traveling news and ever-changing information can often get lost or garbled or mangled in the world of social media and the information superhighway.
Even for veteran reporters, information is rarely 100% accurate. Especially when you're trying to be the first.
Blue Jay fans ran the gamut from always skeptical, to cautiously optimistic, to ever hopeful, and news will effect different fans in different ways.
While many would consider the idea of seeing Burnes or Anthony Santander or Teoscar Hernandez in a Blue Jays uniform a pipe dream, the truth is nobody knows what is going to happen.
And that's okay.
