New Hampshire is known for two things: potatoes and UFO sightings.

In 1719, near Londonderry, New Hampshire, Irish immigrants planted the first potato patches in the United States.
Fast forward more than 200 years, and in 1961, American couple Barney and Betty Hill claimed they were abducted by aliens along Route 3 near the White Mountains-one of the most famous UFO encounters in history.
To celebrate this quirky state history, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will be taking on a new identity for three games during the 2025 season: Meet the Space Potatoes.
The Fisher Cats will first suit up as the Space Potatoes on April 19th. This will be followed by games on July 18th and August 30th.
Fisher Cats General Manager Taylor Fisher is thrilled about the unique rebranding.
I've been amazed at watching our staff bring the Space Potatoes identity to life. It's been a lot of fun to combine two notable New Hampshire firsts into one brand, and I'm so excited to watch our fans enjoy it in 2025.

This isn't the first time the Fisher Cats have embraced a fun, alternate identity. In 2021, they briefly rebranded as the Manchester Chicken Tenders-a nod to Manchester, the team's home city, which is credited as the birthplace of the chicken tender (first made at the Puritan Backroom restaurant in 1974).
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats open their 2025 season at home against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on April 4.
