The Naruto and One Piece super fan, Goku impersonator and one-time Phillies closer who shares the same birth name and keeps in correspondence with tiger-blooded baseball fan and mega-rich television superstar Charlie Sheen, is reportedly the latest free agent connected to the Blue Jays.
Estevez, who started his career with the Colorado Rockies and was an All-Star with the Los Angeles Angels in 2023, finished off 2024 with Philadelphia after a mid-season trade.
Given that the Phillies recently signed former Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano, Estevez will most likely be looking for a new place to call home in 2025.
How sweet it would be if it wound up being the Blue Jays. While Chad Green is more than capable of closing out games in 2025, the bullpen was leakier than a colander caught in a thunderstorm and having a guy like Estevez can only help put a cork in the bottle cap.
No word on what the contract would be, but his previous one with the Angels was a two year, $13.5MM deal, and he is due for a pay raise. Because much like his namesake, he keeps his team winning.
If Estevez decides to bring his Kamehameha energy to the Blue Jays, it would represent a significant upgrade and placate many fans perceived notion of a quiet offseason.
Plus, the marketing would be amazing.
Kamehameha bobbleheads for everybody!
