The former Blue Jays reliever is now a published author.
Jackson signed a split-contract contract with the Blue Jays prior to the 2023 season. In 25 games for the bluebirds, Jackson went 3-1, with a 2.12 ERA before a roster crunch led to a surprise DFA at season's end.
It was his stint with Toronto that inspired much of his new book 9 Innings to Living Your Best Life: Achieve Success When You S.M.I.L.E.
While with the Blue Jays, Jackson's son was born premature, at fifteen weeks early. He spent much of the season shuttling between games and the hospital while the little one - JR Bautista Jackson - recovered in NICU.
Throughout it all, Jackson maintained a positive attitude, something that was noted both in the Blue Jays clubhouse and around the league.
In spite of its title, 9 Innings is not a memoir. Nor is it a baseball book. Rather it life-lessons, nine concepts and focal points for transforming one's mindset, igniting passion, and living purposefully.
In a recent interview with CityNews Toronto, Jackson explained his philosophy:
Jackson, who has been rehabbing his own injury, is set to start throwing bullpen sessions in the next couple of weeks and hopes to be ready to showcase his talents come spring training.
As for his son, Jackson said little JR is doing well. The kid is learning to speak and is nearly off both the oxygen and G2.
Jackson self-published the book on Amazon on December 23rd.
