Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt joins Fandual Overdrive to discuss the new additions to the club as well as the season outlook.

Pitchers and catchers report to Dunedin next thursday and Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt is dialed in and ready to go.
Bassitt touched on how much better on paper the Blue Jays are with their latest additions.
"We are a lot better, it's like night and day obviously Anthony Santander is an absolute massive upgrade for what we need. Adding the bullpen pieces and with Max Scherzer we are a much better team now then we were.
Bassitt talked about what it will be like to have newly acquired infielder Andres Gimenez playing behind him going forward.
"I'm a ground ball pitcher so ya...ya, when we went to Cleveland and saw him play I was like holy moly! I don't think its a stretch at all to say that we have the two best defenders in all of baseball in Andres Gimenez and Daulton Varsho. Luckily we have one in the infield and one in the outfield, I think it's going to be a really fun year for the pitchers to be able to trust in their defense and let them do their thing."
Bassitt also spoke candidly on Vladimir Guerrero Jr and what he brings to the table at such a young age.
"It's crazy how good he is and how young he is, there is so much back and forth when it comes to baseball, you think you have it figured out and then the pitchers figure you out. So for him to understand how to adjust and understand what he has to do strength training wise it's very very impressive at his age. I think the sky is the limit for him and what he can become, he's already one of the best players in the world and I think he can become better. The game comes so easy to him, has the ability and the talent that other players are not able to do he's an absolute monster."
Bassitt's first season with the Jays was solid, as the right-handed pitcher posted a 3.60 ERA and a 4.28 FIP in 200 innings pitched, with a 22.5 K% and a 7.1 BB%. It's the first time Bassitt has ever hit that mark in a season.
Unfortunately, his 2024 season was a steep drop off from the season prior, as the 35-year-old had a 4.16 ERA and a 4.08 FIP in 171 innings pitched, with a 22.2 K% and a 9.2 BB%. Bassitt's ERA of 4.16 was the worst of his career in seasons with a minimum of 50 innings pitched.
With the addition of his old teammate Max Scherzer maybe they'll feed off each other and both get back to form in 2025.
