The Toronto Blue Jays have a new #1 prospect.

Trey Yesavage, whom the Blue Jays selected 20th overall in last year's draft, entered the Top 100 Prospects chart at number 94. He is the only Blue Jay on the list.

With former top prospects Ricky Tiedemann and Brandon Barriera both recovering from Tommy John surgery, Yesavage slides into place as the new top minor leaguer in the Blue Jays system.

The 6'4 right hander was drafted out of East Carolina University and received a signing bonus of $4.5 million.

The lanky right-hander has a slightly atypical delivery but with a fastball that can reach up to 98 miles an hour. It generally averages between 93-95 mph. While it's not necessarily overpowering, Yesavage's high arm slot allows the ball to carry.

Yeasavage's best pitch may just be his slider, which almost acts as a cutter and tops out in the mid 80s.

Yesavage dominated NCAA division 1 when he was in college. Starting off as a reliever, he moved into the rotation in his sophomore year and promptly went 7-1 with a 2.61 ERA and 105 strikeouts.

As a junior he finished second in average-against, 4th in ERA and fifth in strikeouts.

Although he is only 21, he is projected to reach the big leagues sometime in 2026 or early 2027.

Pitching prospects are notoriously tough to predict as they more susceptible to injury than most, especially if they are «over-developed» and rushed to the major leagues. The Blue Jays have experienced that recently with Nate Pearson, Alek Manoah and Tiedemann.

And while Yeasavage, who will most likely start the year in single-A, is still a couple of years away, there are couple of other Jays prospects who could find themselves on the roster in 2025.

Minor leaguers who could see time in 2025 are outfielder Alan Roden, relief pitcher Adam Macko, and infielder Eddinson Paulino.

Trey Yesavage will look to continue his success heading into 2025. If his improved fastball command holds steady as he rises through the ranks, he could find himself as a midline starter for the Blue Jays in a few years time.
