Fans cheer on the Blue Jays

It's becoming clear that a segment of Blue Jays fans will never truly be satisfied.

After calling for Ross Atkins' head the past two seasons, the collective negativity has spilled over into the offseason. An offseason that, by most accounts, has actually gone well for the Blue Jays.
The latest target? Future Hall of Fame pitcher Max Scherzer.
After sharing a quote from Scherzer on their social media-one in which he said, «I'm playing to win. I feel like Toronto offered that»-fans responded with sarcasm and negativity, mocking Scherzer's positive outlook.
"Get ready to learn 80-82, buddy," one commenter wrote.
"5th in the East is not winning," said another.
"Win what? 70 games?" laughed yet another.

This continues a somewhat troubling trend among Blue Jays fans. Earlier this year, after Roki Sasaki signed with the Dodgers, some fans wished him serious injury or harm, and in some cases even death.
When Anthony Santander, who every analyst agreed was a perfect fit for the Blue Jays, signed a five-year deal, much of the fanbase responded with scorn, derision, and indifference. Their disdain for the front office seemed to cloud their judgment of what was, by all measures, a strong acquisition.
And it goes beyond that.
Many insiders have graded the Blue Jays' offseason anywhere from an A to a B+. You wouldn't know it by the online reactions, though. The vocal members of Bluebird Nation seem to have graded the offseason somewhere between a C and an F, with many calling it an outright failure.
As for winning, the projections have the Blue Jays sitting around 85-87 wins, which would give them a solid, winning record. But don't tell that to the fans.
Many fans claim that a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. contract extension-and only that-will make the offseason a success. But I suspect that even if that happens, some will still find something to be upset about.
So, take a deep breath, everyone. We're going to be okay.
