Erik Swanson celebrating a win

First, he showed off his hockey skills. Then, he conquered the world of ice fishing. And now, Erik Swanson has added another gem to his ever-expanding résumé - narrator extraordinaire.

This morning, the BBlue Jays dropped a masterpiece on social media: a short documentary chronicling CChris Bassitt's journey to becoming the bat boy for Toronto's first Spring Training game against the Yankees. The role, of course, was his punishment for losing the team's Fantasy Football League.
As the victorious champion of said league, Swanson was granted the immense honour of narrating Bassitts walk of shame - and the result is nothing short of cinematic brilliance.

In his best attempt at a David Attenborough-meets-guy-who's-had-a-few-beers impression, Swanson dubs Bassitta «grass-fed, tall and lanky giraffe,» marvels at his survival through the many moons of a baseball season, and refers to pitchers as «warriors of the diamond.» It's equal parts majestic and ridiculous - and we are here for it.
Naturally, Swanson loses his fancy accent halfway through and immediately roasts himself for it. Commitment to the bit? Questionable. Comedy gold? Absolutely.
Bassitt served his well-deserved punishment, all thanks to what Swanson calls the «jousting knights» of the Fantasy League. Sir Christopher of Bassitt, you have our respect (and pity).
Swanson wraps up the video with a gentle-yet-savage reminder that waiver wire management is a skill, and Bassitt has none. He even drops the formal «Christopher» just to twist the knife.
The video's already a hit with Blue Jays wives, with Taylor Gausman, Swanson's wife Madison, and even Jessica Bassitt herself giving their seal of approval.
Baseball seasons are long, grueling, and sometimes soul-crushing - but with a certified comedian like Swanson in the clubhouse, at least the content will be elite.
Never change, Erik. Never change.
