Rickey Henderson, Hall of Fame outfielder for the Oakland Athletics, the fastest man on earth, and member of the 1993 World Series Champion Toronto Blue Jays has passed away

Hall of Famer and friend Dave Winfield was one of the first to post about it.

Henderson, nicknamed the Man of Steal, was a 10X All-Star and two-time World Series winner.

He was most known for his four stints with the Oakland Athletics, and for his base stealing prowess and referring to himself in the third person.

In 1982, he stole 130 bases, breaking the modern record set by Lou Brock. He went on to break Brock's career total several years later.

After several successful years with Oakland and then the New York Yankees, he joined the Toronto Blue Jays midway through their 1993 championship season.

While he only hit 215 in 44 games for the Blue Birds, he still stole 22 bases and scored 37 runs. While he wasn't of much use in the playoffs, he was involved in the final play, scoring on Joe Carter's iconic home run, one of the most images of all time.

He returned to Oakland for a third time the following year and then had stints with the Padres (twice), Mets, Angels, Athetlics (his fourth time), Mariners, Red Sox and Dodgers.

He also briefly coached with the Mets in 2007.

He retired as all-time leader in steals, walks, runs scored, and lead-off home runs.

He was elected to the hall of fame in 2009 with nearly 95% of the vote.

Rickey Henderson was 65 years old.
