Keep your eyes on Will Wagner this season.

The 26 year old and son of Hall of Fame candidate Billy Wagner, has been named as a breakout player to watch for the Blue Jays in 2025.

The infielder impressed in his late-season, 24 game cameo last season, hitting .305 with two home runs and 11 RBIs.

Although he was shut down early with a nagging knee injury, the Blue Jays fully expect Wagner to be ready be opening day.

In spite of a crowded infield that will see Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Andres Gimenez, Bo Bichette, and Ernie Clementas the starting four, the Blue Jays can get creative with manufacturing playing time for the youngster, as they are high on his bat.

Wagner looks to get some designated hitter reps and will be the back-up first baseball should Vladdy get an off day or be in the lineup as DH. Wagner can also play second and some third, though he didn't see much action at the latter position last year.

It is not inconceivable that the Blue Jays will try him in the outfield in spring training, but with Addison Barger, Joey Loperfido and Nathan Lukes already providing coverage, the Blue Jays won't be desperate to have Wagner roam the outfield turf.

Again, while the infield is crowded, these things often a way of working themselves out and if Wagner plays well, he may force the Blue Jays hand, similar to how Ernie Clement did so last year.

The fact that Wagner is also a lefty bat, a skill which has seemed to be a premium the last few years for the Blue Jays, only increases his value and chances of playing every day.
