Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays are doing all they can to stay together.

While there have been conflicting reports of how many different offers the Blue Jays have actually tabled for Guerrero, it seems as if talks between the two sides are starting to pick up in an effort to get things done before the February 18th deadline.

In addition, the Blue Jays have been linked, however remotely, to free agent first baseman Pete Alonso.

Because of this, and perhaps in a gesture of good will as well trying to lure the Polar bear north of the border, Vladdy has said that is willing to move back across the diamond to third base.

Guerrero, of course, started his career as a third baseman when he came up with the Blue Jays in 2019.

He moved across to first base in 2020, eventually winning a Gold Glove in 2022. The last couple of years however, have seen him make sporadic appearances at his old position, so it's something both him and the Blue Jays feel comfortable doing.

If Vladdy does indeed move back to the hot corner, it would displace Gold Glove finalist Ernie Clement, who would transition back into a utility role.

It would also further add to the logjam of Jays infielders and squeeze deserving players like Will Wagner, Orelvis Martinez and even Addison Barger out of more playing time.

This only happens if Alonso signs with the Blue Jays, which is not necessarily that likely.

If anything, perhaps Vlad's willingness to change positions will spur the Blue Jays to accelerate extension talks and get a deal done before spring training starts.
