The end of the roommates era
The roomies.
Even during the most depressing of times during the Blue Jays disappointing 2024 campaign, one thing constantly smiles to both Jays players and fans: the exploits and friendship of the roommates
Their story, and the wholesome memes it spawned, was the feel good story of the Blue Jays 2024 season.
Well, the roommates are no more.
Following Spencer Horwitz' trade to the Cleveland Guardians and then the Pittsburgh Pirates, the trio consisting of Horwitz, Ernie Clement, and Davis Schneider has been broken up.
Gone are the days of taking selfies in front of the CN Tower, having wholesome conversations in the dugout, oh yeah, and succeeding on the field.
While Davis «The Babe» Schneider had a down year, both Horwitz and Clement had breakout seasons, with the latter being nominated for a gold glove.
But like all good things, this bromance must come to an end. Horwitz is gone, and while Ernie has a leg up on the starting third base job, the Babe might find himself with nowhere to play.
Still though, it is not hard to imagine that these three will be besties and paisanos for life, even if they are no longer teammates.
While the Blue Jays social media team will miaa posting the wholesome content, maybe Babe's moustache will get its own following one of these days.
If their social media posts are anything to go by, the three of them still hang out, even if Clement will be the last man standing come opening day.
In 2023, Horwitz, Clement, and Schneider were known was the Buffalo Boys. Upon Horwitz' call up, the trio started living together the following spring and the roommate moniker was born.
And while Spencer will no doubt have his own set of new houseplants in 2025, nothing can or will replace the original BFF's.
