No more flow! Bo pulls a Vladdy, cuts hair.
Bo Bichette has taken a page out of the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. handbook.
The Blue Jays short stop was recently seen at a UFC Tampa fight without his trademark flowing locks. Cue the internet collectively freaking out!
While not every player has a signature look, many Blue Jays players were known for their hairstyles.
Vladdy had his dreadlocks. Former Blue Jay Lourdes Gurriel had the pineapple, Bo had the flow.
So well-known was Bo's hair, that his social media was changed to @boflows. During the pandemic, he would stream games from his 'Bo Flows' Twitch page. Additionally, he had a 'Bo flows' collection of headbands.
No reason has been given for Bo's shocking new appearance.
However, one only needs to look to his teammate Guerrero to understand a possible reason.
It seems to have worked too, as Vlad went on a year on route to his best season in 2021.
Baseball players can be a superstitious bunch and it is possible that Bichette, witnessing Vlad's post-dreadlocks success, cut his famous flow in order to regain his hitting prowess.
Whether or not he actually does so remains to be seen.
Perhaps Bo is cutting his hair now in an effort to pre-empt any bad start to the season.
Before he cut his locks in June, Vladdy had just seven home runs in 318 plate appearances with a .768. OPS. Since the shear however, Vlad clobbered 23 home runs.
Last year was the worts of Bo's career as he batted just .225. with a .277. OBP and 75 OPS+ to go along with only four home and 31 RBIs in 81 games. He missed significant time due to injury.
No word yet on why Bo cut his hair and if he made a pact with Vlad.
