In December, a video of the Blue Jays relief pitcher playing catch with a hockey goaltender went viral. Now, another video has surfaced showing him enjoying a different winter pastime: ice fishing.
The fact that Swanson has embraced Canada's winter vibe shouldn't be too surprising.
Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Swanson moved to Cincinnati at age five but returned to Fargo in 2015.
In the video, taken before sunrise in Kenora, Ontario, Swanson can be seen in a pick-up truck on the frozen lake, coffee (presumably from Tim Hortons) in hand.
He was joined by a couple of friends, including YouTube fisherman and internet personality Jay Siemens.
The trio even enjoyed an early breakfast together.
After some successful catches, they used a nifty little gas-powered broiler to cook the fish right there on the ice.
The Blue Jays certainly know who to call when a player gets stuck in a blizzard or encounters another snow-related problem.
By the way, Swanson has great technique with the ice rod, because, of course, he does.
While there won't be too many opportunities for ice fishing in Dunedin, I'm sure Swanson will be happy to share his expertise with the rest of the boys of summer.
