Fresh off making friendship bracelets with the world's biggest pop star, and flooding the Jays instagram with enough TayTay content to be shared amongst all 26 players on the roster, the team seemingly waded into Hip Hop's latest gang war by tweeting a picture of Kendrick Lamar, promoting his show at the Rogers Centre next summer.
For those uninitiated, Kendrick Lamar has a bit of beef happening with the Toronto-born Drake, with the two releasing several diss tracks aimed at each other over the past year, even getting others acts such as Future and J. Cole involved. Many critics, and fans, declared Lamar the winner, and it would appear that the Blue Jays agree.
When it comes to musical feuds I don't make the rules, and neither to the Blue Jays, but their actions in this regard have placed them firmly in Kendrick Lamar's camp and within range of Dranke's sniper rifle.
Now, it's unlikely that the Blue Jays purposely stuck it to the legendary Toronto sports fan and prodigal son of The 6ix by coming down firmly on the side of Team Kendrick, but that didn't stop the internet from doing what the internet does. Fans were quick to roast Drake online.
"They're going to crip walking on Drake's grave and chanting OVHOES in Drake's city» read another tweet.
«Euphoria and Not Like Us at Toronto Blue Jays Stadium on Fathers Day weekend is absolutely gruesome.» wrote another.
«Euphoria» is a song by Lamar that takes it's name from the HBO show of the same name. The show, which has often been criticized for its mature content, lists Drake as an executive producer. It is also alleged that Drake has at least one secret child, if not more, in addition to the one known to the public.
Still other fans were aghast that the Blue Jays would even think of doing this, dissing a man who is so proud of their shared city.
It is common occurrence to hear rap music blasting throughout major league locker rooms, but no word yet on whether Vlad Jr. is a Drake fan or if he prefers the lyrics of the Pulitzer-prize winning Kendrick Lamar (yes you read that right).
While the Blue Jays will probably feign ignorance to the 21st century's great royal feud, many online will opine that they knew exactly what they were doing.
Your move, Drake.
