In the search for help in overhauling their bullpen, the Blue Jays are turning to an old friend.

After missing out on reunions with Danny Jansen and Jordan Romano, the Blue Jays have successfully lured back one of their top relief pitchers from the last couple of seasons.

Yimi Garcia is reportedly returning to the Blue Jays on a two year, $15 million deal.

Ari Alexander of CBS affiliate KPRC 2 was the first to report on the signing.

Garcia was a key cog in Toronto's bullpen over the past two-and-a-half seasons, especially in 2024 when he went 3-0 with five saves and a 2.70 ERA in 29 games.

He was traded to the Mariners in July.

Although Garcia was well-liked by the organisation and Garcia loved pitching in Toronto, but with the team in sell mode, Garcia was a prime candidate to be dealt.

One of the players the Blue Jays received for him was outfielder Jonatan Clase, who debuted at the end of the season and has an opportunity to be a big part of the Jays outfield in 2025.

While this certainly won't be the only transaction the Blue Jays in terms of re-making their bullpen, reuniting with Garcia is a good start that will bring some stability to go along with returnees Chad Green, Erik Swanson, Zach Pop, and Brendon Little.

And while the Blue Jays are still deciding what to do with and how to utilise Yariel Rodriguez, look for them to add at least another two or three arms before the offseason is finished.

Like his first time round, look for the Blue Jays to use him in mid-to-late innings and high leverage situations.

In his first stint with the Blue Jays, Garcia appeared in 163 games, and went 10-9 with nine saves and 3.53 ERA.
