Toronto Blue Jays number 1 draft pick pegged as breakout prospect in 2025
Trey Yesavage has yet to make his professional debut, but the Toronto Blue Jays' most recent first round pick still has plenty of hype surrounding him entering 2025.
Ranked as the No. 11 prospect, third-ranked pitcher available in the draft by Baseball America and MLB Pipeline.

Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter compiled a list featuring one potential breakout prospect for every MLB organization in 2025 on Friday.
For the Blue Jays, Reuter went with Yesavage.
Yesavage, 21, has yet to make his professional debut, however Yesavage was the consensus No. 3 college starter in 2024 behind Hagen Smith and Chase Burns, and after some rumblings that he could go inside the top 10 in the draft, he ended up slipping all the way to the Blue Jays at No. 20 overall.
The 6'4", 225-pound right-hander is more floor than ceiling, but his polish could allow him to dominate lower-level hitters. He went 11-1 with a 2.03 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 145 strikeouts in 93.1 innings.
Yesavage enters the professional ranks with a solid four-pitch mix that developed over his three seasons at East Carolina.
He throws a fastball that sits in the 93-96-m.p.h. range and peaks at 98, according to MLB Pipeline. He also throws a mid-80s slider, and a spike curveball and splitter that both sit in the low 80s.
It's with this mix that he generated a 40.4 per cent strikeout rate - the third-highest total in Division I, trailing only fellow first-rounders Burns and Hagen Smith whom Baseball America has grouped together.
Yesavage is currently ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system with a big league ETA of 2026.
MLB Pipeline has Yesavage pegged as the No. 94 prospect and No. 26 pitching prospect in baseball.
