A couple of old friends could be in new homes for the 2025 season.

Both Marcus Stroman and Santiago Espinal are being shopped by the their current teams.

Stroman, heading into his second season of his two year deal with the New York Yankees, finds himself part of a crowded rotation that includes Gerrit Cole and recent free agent signee Max Fried..

While the Yankees did recently trade Nasty Nestor Cortes, they still have six starting pitchers and are said to be shopping Stroman.

Earlier in the year it was reported that New York had offered Stroman in exchange for Nolan Arenado, a proposed deal that St. Louis was less-than-amenable to.

Over in the National League, the recent acquisition of Gavin Lux by the Cincinnati Reds has thrown Santiago Espinal's future with the team into question.

Much like the Blue Jays, the Reds find themselves with too many infielders including Elly De La Cruz, Matt McClain, Noelvi Marte, Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Spencer Steer and Jeimer Candelario, as well as Lux and Espinal.

Lux was traded to Cincinnati because he himself was the victim of a logjam after the Dodgers signed Korean superstar Hye-seong Kim.

While a Blue Jays reunion with Espinal is unlikely to happen, a reunion with Stromanis possible, though the chances are also low.

Both Stroman and Espinal were well-liked figures in Toronto, with Stroman's heroics in the 2015 postseason and Espinal's 2022 All-Star selection among their personal highlights.
