Perhaps the best solution for Ross Atkins, Mark Shapiro and the Blue Jays is just to blow it all up. Get rid of everybody and start another rebuild.
While that may sound extreme, that was exactly the suggestion postulated by sportscaster, commentator, and podcaster Chris Rose on his Baseball Today podcast.
Rose, who had made bold predictions in the past when it came to the Blue Birds, including the team going to the World Series and Alek Manoah winning the Cy Young, has said he will stop going there because he, like so many others in the baseball world, has no idea what's going with the team.
Some of his suggestions include trading Vladimir Guerrero Jr., get Bo Bichette to re-establish his value and trade him by mid-season, trade Chris Bassitt, overhaul the bullpen, and not signing Anthony Santander.
His co-host, former big leaguer Trevor Plouffe opined that while the Blue Jays have good players to trade, they are not necessarily a good team.
While a radical change like the one Rose suggested in unlikely to happen before the 2025 season, it is possible that a big overhaul could happen in 2026 if the Blue Jays have another down year.
If that happens, it could be another long stretch of futility. Blue Jays have been there before, but it will feel so much different in a post-Vladdy and post-Bo era.
Who knows though, maybe it was all reverse psychology on Rose's part. It seems doubtful though.
