RHP Trey Yusavage:
Yusavage is the first to be featured in this article as he was Toronto's first-round selection in last year's draft.
The 6 foot 4, 225 pound right-handed pitcher's mix includes a fastball that sits around 93-95 mph and benefits from a high arm slot.
He also features a slider, curveball, and splitter, and has even considered adding a cutter.
He's attributed his increased pitch mix to his successful transition in going from a reliever to a starter, as well as his ability to handle his adrenaline over longer increments of time.
An AAC First Team selection following his great sophomore season, he went on to pitch for Team USA and later be named to the 2024 preseason Golden Spikes Award watchlist.
ECU were voted AAC favorites by rival head coaches, no doubt related to their burgeoning ace's potential.
He since was named a semifinalist for the 2024 Golden Spikes Award (though he didn't make the cut as a finalist) and took home monthly honors in April after striking out 50 batters in 26 1/3 innings.
Now, he'll have all the tools of the Blue Jays' Player Development Complex at his disposal.
Before landing in Toronto, Yesavage spent about a week in Dunedin, Fla., getting to know the state-of-the-art facilities and peeking into what the next few years in the Minors may bring.
SS Josh Kasevich:
The Toronto Blue Jays selected Josh Kasevich out of the University of Oregon in the second-round of the 2022 draft.
Kasevich made his professional debut a few weeks later, slashing .262/.344/.336 with no home runs in 122 plate appearances with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays.
In 2024, he started his season with the Double-A New Hampshire Fishercats, slashing .284/.333/.364 with three home runs in 393 plate appearances, along with a 6.6 BB% and a 10.7 K%.
The 23-year-old was promoted to Triple-A early last August, and he slashed .296/.352/.388 with one home run in 108 plate appearances since joining the Buffalo Bisons.
Few players in this organization receive stronger reviews than Kasevich for his work ethic and approach to the game.
He's been lauded as a teammate for making those around him better and is one of the best defensive shortstops in the organization.
OF Alan Roden:
Blue Jays fans got a glimpse of Roden last spring. This February and March, I'd bet on Roden being one of the more popular names in camp.
The 25-year-old Roden is an on-base machine, very much in the style of Spencer Horwritz.
Roden showed well after his Triple-A promotion mid-season in 2024, In 50 games, he hit .371/.448/.594 with a 1.042 OPS, in a total of 71 games with the Bisons he hit .314 with a .406 on-base percentage.
In 2024 Roden won The Buffalo Bisons MVP Award and Blue Jays minor league player of the year award.
The Wisconsin native has worked hard to be in this position and there is some opportunity for Roden in Toronto's outfield.
While I'd still bet on him starting in Triple-A to open the season, he could be a legitimate piece of this club's plans in 2025.
