And while there's no guarantee that any team will choose to take a flyer on the well-traveled, 12 year veteran, KP has openly expressed his desire to play in 2025.
During an interview with MLB Network's Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds, Pillar explained that while in LA, which is very near West Hills where he grew up, he re-found his passion and that baseball was exciting again.
He said that for the first time in a while, he was playing for himself.
After being traded by the Blue Jays early on in the 2019 season, Pillar found himself bouncing around through seven teams in six years before landing with the Halos where he was reunited with former Jays teammate Ryan «Caillou» Goins, now the Angels infield coach.
As he told Vasgerian and Reynolds, he just bought property in the Dallas area and thus will head to the winter meetings to make himself available and pitch his services.
While he would like the opportunity to return to Los Angeles if possible, Pillar also understands that is too early - for either side - to make any decisions on that front.
Still, plenty of teams will be in the market for a 4th outfielder, and while his speed and range has diminished over time, Pillar can certainly fill this need should the right opportunity present itself.
As for that house in Dallas? When Pillar bought the property he also inherited the two llamas that came with it.
If he is unable to sign a contract for the 2025 season may Superman has a future in shearing camelids.
