The south siders announced Saturday that a statue of Buehrle will be unveiled outside Rate Field this July. The unveiling is part of the festivities celebrating their 2005 World Series Win.
While Buehrle finished his career with the Blue Jays, he spent the first 12 seasons as a workhorse for the White Sox. As well as being a key member of the team that ended the Black Sox curse and won their first championship in 88 years, Buehrle also made four All-Star games, won three gold gloves, and pitched both a no-hitter and a perfect game. He has also had his number 56 retired by the team.
During that 2005 season Buehrle went 16-8 with a 3.12 ERA. In game three of the World Series against the Houston Astros, Buehrle came in from the bullpen and got the save.
After a season in Miami, which saw him his fourth consecutive Gold Glove award, Buehrle was dealt to the Jays as a part of a massive, 12 player deal. He continued his winning ways for the Blue Jays, as well as his streak of pitching 200 or innings a season. In 2014, he was elected to his fifth and final All-Star game.
In 2015, his last season with the team, and the final one in his career, he went 15-8 and helped lead Toronto to their first postseason appearance in 22 years. He also led the league with four complete games His streak of 14 seasons with 200 innings ended as finished the year just shy at 198.2.
In three seasons with the Blue Jays, Buehrle went 40-28 with a 3.78 ERA and 604.1 innings pitched.
For his career, Buehrle is 214-160 with a 3.81 ERA and 3283.1 innings pitched.
