Hernandez, a former teammate and close friend of Guerrero, has indicated that the superstar first baseman would like to stay where he is.
Hopefully, they can make it work because he wants to stay. He wants to stay as a Blue Jay, just being there the whole career, but at the end of the day, it's a business and you need to do what's best for you and your family. - Teoscar Hernandez
Teo made the remarks during a recent appearance on the Foul Territory podcast.
The recent signings of Anthony Santander and Max Scherzer, could also entice Vladdy and the Blue Jays to reach a deal. With their goals of adding a starter and a power bat out of the way, the Blue Jays can devote more time and energy into negotiations with their franchise player.
Vladdy turned down an earlier contract offer $340MM; most analysts have his deal somewhere in the 10 year/$450MM range.
The deadline is 2.5 weeks away.
