Apparently the Blue Jays farm system simply isn't that good.

According to Keith Law of The Athletic, who ranked all 30 MLB farm systems, the Blue Jays rank 24th.
While farm systems and prospects rankings can be volatile, this should cause some concern for the Blue Jays. Law is right to think this too; the Blue Jays only have two prospects - Arjuan Nimmala and Trey Yesavage ranked inside MLB's Top 100.
Whether or not the Blue Jays improve their ranking this year will depend on a couple of things.
1st, injuries. The Blue Jays currently have three pitchers - former top prospect Ricky Tiedemann, former number one pick Brandon Barriera, and sleeper candidate T.J. Brock, are all in various stages of recovery from Tommy John surgery. Brandon Barriera is expected back by April or March but Tiedemann and Brock are likely out for the year.
The 2nd factor is graduation. Orelvis Martinez and Will Wagner are still both considered prospects, and the Blue Jays will probably see appearances including Alan Roden, Adam Macko, Adam Kloffenstein, Jonatan Clase, among other.
But it isn't all bad. The Blue Jays are high on some prospects in the lower levels of their system, as well as some of the international players that were signed, most notably Christopher Polanco and Keegan Pieternella.
New prospects can also enter the system via trade or waiver signings. Either way, the next few years will be key.
