After word got out that the Padres have been eliminated from the Roki Sasakisweepstakes, leaving the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles as the final two teams, many assume that the Blue Jays are being used as leverage and that the Japanese phenom will ultimately land in Los Angeles. Yet according to one Dodgers pitcher, that may not be the case.
Dodgers ace and Cillian Murphy doppelganger Tyler Glasnow, while stating the talked to Sasaki on the phone to make his pitch about becoming rotation mates, feels although Sasaki is serious about and is leaning towards the Blue Jays.
Whether or not Glasnow's words are to be believed is a matter of debate, but the 2024 All-Star has never been shy about voicing his opinion and speaking his mind.
The fact that the Jays also just acquired $2M in extra international Cap money from the Cleveland Guardians is only adding fuel to the fire.
Sasaki has said that he will announce his decision by no later than January 23rd, which is six days away. Although given how quickly the Padres were eliminated after being announced as. finalists, it feels like the news could come sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, Blue Bird Nation awaits on pins and needles for this potentially franchise-altering decision. Choose Toronto Roki. Onegai!
