When the Blue Jays and Max Scherzer held their press conference on Friday, many fans mocked the starting pitcher for saying he wants to win.

However, based on some of his other remarks, many believe Scherzer might know something we don't. Could his comment be related to Alex Bregman?
The Blue Jays finished last in the AL East last year, which doesn't seem to align with Scherzer's statement that he came to Toronto to win. So, what led him to say that? Could he be aware of something we're not?
It's well-known that the Blue Jays have been in discussions regarding Alex Bregman. The Cubs and Tigers are also heavily involved in talks with the two-time All-Star, and the Astros can't be counted out.
Of course, this is all speculation, as many in the media are not privy to the full details of talks between teams and free agents. The Blue Jays are also known for their secrecy when it comes to such matters.
But could it be that, prior to signing Scherzer, the Blue Jays front office gave him an inside scoop about their aggressive plan to pursue and potentially land Bregman before the start of the 2025 season?
It's possible.
Still, it seems unlikely. Bregman is reportedly seeking a six- or seven-year deal, which many teams are hesitant to offer. If he were willing to cut that in half, however, it could become much more appealing to the Blue Jays.
Only time will tell.
