Former Blue Jays third baseman Justin Turner might be closer to finding a new home.

According to baseball insider Ken Rosenthal, the Boston Red Sox are looking at a possible reunion with Turner, who spent a year the team in 2023 prior to the coming to the Blue Jays.
The Chicago Cubs are also reportedly engaging tin talks with Turner.
The Cubs have also been linked to free agent third baseman Alex Bregman, and many view the club's interest in Turner as Plan B, and a pivot away from the two-time All-Star.
With the Red Sox, Turner could see time at both third and first, occasionally spelling Rafael Devers and Triston Casas, as well as DH and pinch hitting opportunities.
If Turner, who turned 40 in November, does sign anywhere, it would most likely be on a one-year deal.
Turner signed a one-year contract with the Blue Jays prior to the 2024 season.
He performed admirably for Toronto, hitting .254 with six home runs and 31 RBIS in 91 games before being sent to Seattle in a trade deadline deal for pitching prospect RJ Schreck.
Turner has played more first than third recently, and has also appeared at 2nd base and shortstop throughout his career and played one game in left field in 2013.
It is unknown whether the talks with the Cubs and Red Sox have have legs, but as of right now no contract offers have been made.
Turner won a World Series with the Dodgers in 2020, and was also twice elected to the All-Star game during his nine-year tenure with his hometown team. In addition to the Blue Jays, Mariners, and Red Sox, Turner has also played for the Orioles and Mets throughout his long career.
