Bowden Francis loving the Blue Jays pursuit of Sasaki, says team is hungry
Bowden Francis is excited about the Blue Jays offseason.
The most interesting man on the Blue Jays and the team's resident zen master, Francis recently appeared on MLB Radio on Sirius XM and was asked about his thoughts on the Blue Jays pursuit of Roki Sasaki.
In his perpetually calm manner, Francis extolled not only the Blue Jays and their pitching development department, but also how exciting it was for the team to be in the hunt for that calibre of pitcher.
A team that's in the fight for a guy like that. A player of that calibre, it shows how hungry we are.
He also made sure to rep the city and the organization.
The city, the country behind you. All the research that we have. I mean the complex is incredible. Just the mandates we have in Toronto. The way they treat our players and the families, it's second to none. The comfortability we bring to players. It's super special.
He's not the only one. Former Blue Jays pitcher Yusei Kikuchi often spoke fondly of the city and the organization, and there are rumours that the one-tome All-Star spoke to Sasaki on behalf of the Jays.
The Jays are known throughout the league for their prime pitching development at the major league level; Francis' success during the second half of last year is a perfect example of this. This type of program in one of things that is intriguing and of value to the Japanese phenom.
Sasaki has said he will make his decision prior to January 23rd.
