Bo Bichette is leading off for in consecutive games to day against the
Tigers, his first home run of the spring yesterday proved to be the difference in a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Anthony Santander both shift up one spot in the lineup, presumably to get as many at bats as possible.
Santander will DH today as he played left field yesterday, Davis Schneider will be patrolling left field today.
George Springer remains in the middle of the line up along with Andres Gimenez and Alejandro Kirk.
Nathan Lukes is getting the start in centerfield today the
Blue Jays seem to be getting a long look at Lukes this spring as they're still trying to decide on a fourth outfielder.
Ernie Clement is batting in the nine-hole providing some bat-to-ball and speed at the bottom of the line up.
The
Blue Jays will have their hands full with Skubal today who won the pitching Triple Crown in the American League last season, going 18-4 with a 2.39 ERA, 0.922 WHIP, 228 strikeouts and a 6.3 WAR across 31 starts.
The 192.0 innings Skubal tossed in 2024 nearly matched his combined total from between 2022 and 2023, when he racked up 198.0.
He went 14-11 with a 3.23 ERA, 1.051 WHIP, 219 strikeouts and a 3.5 WAR in that span, suggesting that he was bursting with star potential.
Opponents hit just .216 off Skubal's changeup, with a 46.1 percent whiff rate.
It was a big reason Skubal held right-handed hitters to a .204 average and a .572 OPS last season.
