For instance who will lead off in 2025?
Now that Spencer Horwitz is gone to the Pittsburgh Pirates do we go back to George Springer?
I think that most of us can agree that Springers lead off days with this team is over.
Springer should probably be a middle of the lineup guy for now since the Blue Jays haven't got that big bat via free agency or trade.
I can see Bo Bichette starting out the season ion the leadoff spot, but Bo typically hasn't had much success in the past in the leadoff spot, he's always been better at number two.
Maybe we should look to Will Wagner, another son of a former big leaguer (seven-time All-Star reliever Billy Wagner) for the leadoff spot.
Wagner became the fourth player in Blue Jays history to have three hits in his major league debut and also had a five hit game 8 days later.
Since joining the Blue Jays, he's hit .305 with two home runs and a .788 OPS. He's a contact hitter with some pop in his bat.
Blue Jays Manager John Schneider thinks so:
What is Davis Schneider's future on this club?
Davis Schneider has to come out of Spring Training with all cylinders firing to make this team.
The organization loves him, but he needs to rebound from 2024, and putting up numbers against lefties would be a great start.
He can hit for power and play some left field, but he'll face competition from outfielder Alan Roden eventually, and the Blue Jays are still expected to add.
One thing that could open a door for Schneider is if Daulton Varsho (shoulder surgery) needs to open the season on the IL, which would slide Joey Loperfido or Jonatan Clase to centerfield.
Who will play the hot corner on Opening Day?
I feel like Ernie Clement is the best cast utility player to play third base right now.
He'll find his way into the lineup for 100-plus games and he's a sharp defender anywhere on the infield, makes plenty of contact at the plate and is one of the best athletes on the roster. He's a big leaguer for sure.
Which Blue Jays prospects have the biggest shot at making the Opening Day roster?
Alan Roden feels like the best bet to be the spring favorite.
He'll see plenty of action and is an on-base machine who fits the style of hitter the Blue Jays love, much like Spencer Horwitz.
Jake Bloss is an injury away from the rotation and could be a swingman option, but there's a good case to be made for him starting in Triple-A as the next man up.
Orelvis Martinez is a long shot at this point, however if the 23-year old starts crushing lefties again you may see him come up as a part time player sooner or later.
