The first power rankings for 2025 are out and once again the Toronto Blue Jays find themselves near the bottom of the pack.

MLB Power Rankings is a system that evaluates and compares Major League teams that is often based on current performance, strength, and overall outlook.

Unsurprisingly, the Los Angeles Dodgers are first. They are followed by the Phillies, Yankees, Mets, and Braves. For the first list of the year, he Blue Jays sit 23rd out of 30 thirty teams.

Although thye have only moved down one slot since the November issue, the Blue Jays are a team with so much uncertainty in their future. Vladdy and Bo Bichette will be free agents after coming season, and many more contracts are coming off the books between now and 2026.

If the Blue Jays are able to lure a couple of big free agents north of the border or are able to acquire a power bat through a trade, then perhaps their ranking will increase prior to the start of the season.

It should be noted that, as much as they are based on stats, MLB Power Rankings are ultimately subjective.

Several factors when determining Power Rankings include team performance, offensive and defensive strengths, momentum, strength of schedule, and team dynamics.

Right now, for the Blue Jays, momentum seems to be the key issue, they have none. Dynamics have always been strong with this group and they are also very solid defensively. But after last season, there has definitely been a shift in outlook, one that has been moving away from a positive future.

Perhaps no team will be watched more over the first few months than the Blue Jays.
